Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has resigned following his failure to take Kenya to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
“I have terminated my contract after this CS (Murkomen) talked so much about me, but let Football Kenya Federation (FKF) make the announcement,” said Firat.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, will participate in the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup, scheduled to take place in Zanzibar from January 3rd to 13th.
The tournament will serve as a preparation platform for the 2024 CHAN co-hosts—Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania—as they gear up for the continental championship set to kick off on February 1st, 2025.
Other teams confirmed for the competition include Zanzibar Heroes, Uganda, Kilimanjaro Stars, Burundi, and Burkina Faso. Traditionally a club tournament, the Mapinduzi Cup will take on a new format this year with national teams being invited to compete.
