Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, has revealed the reason behind Ademola Lookman’s early substitution against Venezia.
Colombia international, Juan Cuadrado took the place of Lookman after the break.
The winger struggled to make impact in the game before his substitution.
Gasperini stated that the Nigerian showed signs of tiredness.
“He was probably tired too, then there are the games and the needs of the teams. It already happened to us with Como, we would have risked doing the same with Venezia today,” Gasperini said in his post-match interaction with the media.
The 27-year-old has scored twice in five league outings for La Dea this season.
He was named Atalanta’s Player of the Month for September last week.
The Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) has said that the single-dose HPV vaccine Nigeria introduced into its routine immunisation programme in October 2023 is more effective when it is taken in early adolescence.
Dr Foluso Balogun, a consultant paediatrician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and immunisation champion, disclosed a one-day school outreach on the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine in collaboration with the International Paediatric Association at the Anglican Commercial Grammar School in Ibadan.
Balogun, a PAN’s immunisation champion, said the vaccine is more protective against HPV, the organism that causes cervical cancer between the ages of 10 and 14 because at that time, many of the girls are not sexually exposed.
“From following up the cohorts that took the vaccine earlier, they discovered that the vaccines had the highest effectiveness in particular age groups,” she added.
She said the HPV vaccine is safe and available in PHCs across the state and urged them to tell others about the benefits of taking the vaccine.
According to her, cervical cancer kills a woman every hour, but a single dose of the vaccine is protective against cervical cancer as well as cancers of other parts of the body such as the head, neck, throat, penis, and anus.
Dr Balogun declared that PAN is campaigning that all girls take the HPV vaccine because cervical cancer is preventable in almost all cases.
“We want all our girls to be protected so that we are sure that they are protected from cervical cancer. We want them to live a healthy life; we want them to live long. Mortality from cervical cancer is high. If vaccination can prevent this, then we can do it.
“So, we want parents to avail ourselves of this opportunity and allow our girl child to be vaccinated. We appreciate the federal government for making the vaccine available for our girls.
“We are also asking that the vaccine be made available to the boys so that they will be covered from all HIV-related cancers. Cancers of the head and neck are more common in males.”
The principal of Anglican Commercial Grammar School, Mrs Oluwakemi Ajadi, appreciated PAN for the school outreach and the donated sanitary pads to the girls, saying that some girls don’t know when their menses will come and their uniforms get messed up.
She urged mothers to ensure that their daughters take the HPV vaccine because prevention is better than cure.

The vocal coach, who worked with One Direction throughout their five-year run, shared a vulnerable post for Liam.

Voting in started early in some areas in the Plateau State local government elections, even as there were delays in some other locations due to the late arrival of officials.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited some polling units at Kugiya, Bukuru Lowcost, Zang Commercial Secondary School, reports that as at 8: 45 a.m., officials of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), were yet to be seen in these areas.
Officials at the Olusegun Obasanjo Model School, however, arrived at the time of filing this report.
NAN reports that the intending voters were seen at the various polling units waiting to exercise their franchise.
Mrs Sabina Dawam, the official in charge of the school in Hwolshe, attributed the delay to lack of vehicles at the Local Government to transport voting materials and the officials.
Mr Amos Badung, a voter, expressed dissatisfaction over the late arrival of officials at the school’s polling unit, saying the delay could cause disenfranchisement of some voters.
Badung said as at 9:00 a.m., the election was yet to commence.
A voter, Mrs Mary Dalyop, at the St Jarlath’s Primary School 1 polling unit in Kugiya, told NAN, that she had been at the polling unit since 7:30 am, awaiting the arrival of the officials to commence the exercise at 8: 00 a.m.
Dalyop however, said she did not want to return home because she was not sure if she would be able to come back to cast her vote if she left for home.
NAN reports that voting began early in some areas such as Zawan A and B, Kuru, Du, and Rayfield, all in Jos South.
Voting had commenced as early as 8:00 a.m, as both officials and voting materials were on ground.
Amid the ongoing collation of results from the Edo governorship election, the All Progressives Congress, APC, said it is comfortably in an early lead.
This is even as the party said that its attention has been drawn to some reports circulating in sections of social media by unnamed political parties peddling bogus figures of vote tallies.
In a statement on Saturday by Felix Morka, APC National Publicity Secretary, the party urged members of the public to disregard what it called attempted misrepresentation and await INEC’s final verdict on the election.
According to the party, collation of election results at the ward level was still ongoing and has yet to be concluded.
Morka, therefore, maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is the sole authorised body empowered to officially declare the result of the election.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to some reports circulating in sections of social media by certain political parties peddling bogus figures of vote tallies in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election.
“We urge the Edo State electorate and the general public to disregard these bogus and highly speculative reports.
“Our great party is comfortably in an early lead, however, as a responsible party, we will not attempt to preempt INEC’s conclusion of the election process and official declaration of final results,” part of the statement read.
