Everton’s new owners, The Friedkin Group, TFG, are not interested in hiring Jose Mourinho as their next manager.
TFG made the decision to sack Sean Dyche as their head coach on Thursday.
Dyche was dismissed just a few hours before Thursday’s FA Cup third-round clash against Peterborough at Goodison Park.
Although Mourinho has been linked with the job and is reportedly interested in a return to the Premier League, The Mirror reports that David Moyes is the leading contender to replace Dyche.
The Toffees are considering bringing back Moyes, which would mark an emotional reunion.
TFG believes Moyes could be a good fit, potentially on an initial short-term basis.
Everton currently sit just one point above the relegation zone following defeats to Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, having won only one game in their last 11 matches.
Dyche had held discussions with TFG and suggested that he had taken the club as far as he could before the decision was made to relieve him of his duties ahead of the Peterborough game.
