In Korea DPR’s second Group C match the dynamic duo of So Ryu-gyong and Ho Kyong provided the fireworks in a comfortable 3-0 victory against Kenya at CFC Stadium in Santiago de los Caballeros.
So led the way with two goals, with Ho contributing the assist on each. The first was served up on a silver platter, and was followed minutes later by a near carbon copy.
The Korea DPR attack did not have the same spark without FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024 Golden Ball winner Choe Il-son, who departed in the first half, but their steady defence and a late thumping Ri Kuk-hyang header made sure there was no Kenya comeback.
Kenya coach Mildred Chechen said after the game: “We didn’t start off very well, we conceded early and it caused a bit of panic, but as the game went on their spirits lifted and we played well.
“The players are very motivated, very courageous, they have a heart for fighting for the team and that is the most important thing.”
