Russia’s Ministry of Defence announced on Sunday that it intercepted and destroyed 51 Ukrainian drones in multiple regions, including areas near the border with Ukraine.
The drones were reportedly shot down over several territories, with 18 intercepted in Tambov, around 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and 16 near Belgorod, a border town, according to a statement posted by the ministry on Telegram.
Additional interceptions were reported in the regions of Oryol, Bryansk, Lipetsk, and Voronezh.
One drone was also downed in Kursk, an area where Ukrainian forces have been conducting a ground offensive since August, controlling parts of Russian territory.
This marks another incident in a series of ongoing drone attacks that Moscow claims it intercepts almost daily.
Kyiv asserts that such strikes on Russian territory are in response to Russia’s repeated bombardments of Ukrainian infrastructure, including energy facilities.
