Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge has officially parted ways with Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Sowah, terminating his contract by mutual consent. This decision, confirmed in a statement by the club, marks the end of Sowah’s tenure at Brugge and opens the door for the 25-year-old to pursue new opportunities as a free agent.
“Kamal Sowah and Club Brugge have agreed to terminate their contract by mutual consent today,“ read the club’s statement.
Sowah, a product of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, has endured a challenging season, missing the first half of the campaign and struggling to secure consistent game time. His limited opportunities on the pitch have contributed to the amicable decision to part ways, allowing the midfielder to seek a fresh start elsewhere.
Sowah joined Club Brugge in 2021 from English Premier League side Leicester City after impressing during a loan spell at Belgian club OH Leuven. Despite flashes of potential, he has been unable to firmly establish himself in Brugge’s lineup. Sowah made a total of 53 appearances for the club, contributing key moments in their domestic and European campaigns but fell out of favor in recent months.
Internationally, Sowah has earned one cap for the Ghanaian national team and remains a promising talent. At 25, he has ample time to rejuvenate his career and capitalize on his technical abilities and experience in both Belgian and English football.
As a free agent, Sowah is now poised to attract interest from clubs seeking a versatile midfielder with a solid footballing education. His departure from Club Brugge represents both an end and a beginning—an opportunity to rediscover his form and take the next step in his career.
