Following their 2-2 draw with Fulham at Raven Cottage on Sunday, Arsenal lost the opportunity to reduce Liverpool’s advantage to four points.
As a result of the draw, Arsenal briefly rises to second position in the league standings, six points behind Liverpool.
Along with former Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe, Fulham also included Super Eagles players Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
Due to the weather-related cancellation of Liverpool’s match against Everton and the tie between Manchester City and Palace, Arsenal had a chance to go closer to the Reds.
But after the Gunners got off to a good start, Fulham’s Raul Jimenez gave them the lead at 11 minutes.
William Saliba gave Arsenal another equaliser from a set play in the 52nd minute.
Declan Rice was going to drop a cross for Saliba to slot in from a distance.
Before VAR finally permitted the goal to stand, Saliba checked for a potential offside.
Bukayo Saka believed he had scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute when he headed home Gabriel Martinelli’s cross, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
