At least two people were arrested during the high-tension match between France and Israel, played to a goalless draw (0-0) at the Stade de France, for the 5th day of the Nations League.
During the match, a fight broke out in the stands, around the 10th minute of play. These clashes took place in an area where people were carrying Israeli flags. However, they were not placed with the official supporters of Israel.
Questioned by France 2, the Paris Police Prefect, Laurent Nuñez, announced the arrest of two people in connection with these clashes.
“There was indeed an incident. It was immediately contained by the stewards of the French Football Federation (FFF). They did their job and the police – who were exceptionally in the stadium – also positioned themselves. “There were two arrests, one immediately and one after the match, once we were able to dissect what happened on video. Two people are in custody for this incident,” said Nuñez, who added that apart from this event, “the match went very well from a security point of view.”
