Uganda Senior Women’s National Football Team, The Crested Cranes wound up their stay in Algeria on Saturday with yet another international friendly game.
The game played at the Tchacker Stadium in Blida, Algiers ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts. The decisive goal arrived in the 34th minute with Ghoutia Karchourni scoring direct from a free kick.
Coach Sheryl Botes made two changes from the team that had started the first game with Resty Nanziri and Ruth Aturo starting ahead of Shakirah Nankwanga and Daisy Nakaziro respectively.
It should be noted that the first leg played on Wednesday ended in a 2-1 win for Algeria. The coach believes the team picked valuable lessons and hopes to use them going forward.
“I’m first of all happy that we got two intensive games against such an opponent like Algeria. I believe the players benefited a lot facing such a team twice,” she said. “Definitely, we had some positives picked despite losing both games and these can only be building blocks going forward.”
The team continues to prepare ahead of a busy schedule next year that will have the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.
