Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has urged parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children for the betterment of society.
Jatau made the call during the naming ceremony of Khadijat, the daughter of Prince Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Adon Garin-Lafia, in Lafia yesterday.
The Speaker said that children were special gift from God, hence the need for parents to train them in a Godly way, through morality, religious and western education.
Jatau prayed for God’s protection, guidance and sound health for the baby as well as grant the parents the ability to train her.
Also speaking, retired Justice Sidi Bage- Muhammad, the Emir of Lafia, congratulated Adon Garin-Lafia on the successful naming ceremony of his new baby.
Mohamed, who spoke through Emir of Azara, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim, prayed God to keep the baby in sound health.
Earlier, Malam Yusuf Abdullahi, the Deputy Chief Imam of Lafia Central Mosque, who presided over the ceremony, urged parents not to neglect the proper upbringing of their children.
He emphasised the need for parents to give their children religious and western education for their own benefit as well as overall development of the society.
Abdullahi also offered prayers for the unity, peace and development of Nigeria (NAN)
