Vipers SC missed an opportunity to close Matchday 12 on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after drawing one-all with BUL at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.
The Venoms actually had to come from behind to salvage a point at home when three would have taken them above current leaders NEC.
It took a 28th minute Allan Okello penalty to cancel out Pascal Ngobi’s fourth minute goal as the two sides held on for a stalemate.
Vipers’ seventh win in 12 matches keeps them in second place on 25 points, one behind NEC, while BUL, who have had a poor start to the season, are 10th on 15.
At Kitende, the visitors – BUL – took an early lead just four minutes into the game when Ngobi slotted into the bottom corner Dickson Mataama’s ball after a well worked move from the right flank.
Vipers bounced back after Gusto Mulungo was fouled in the penalty box by Najib Fesali to allow Okello score the equaliser from the spot – also his eighth goal of the season – on 28 minutes.
