Shaboozey, who was nominated for CMA Awards in the New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year categories, also weighed in on the nominations.
“It’s definitely unfortunate, if that was something she was looking to receive, something that she worked for,” he told E! News at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. “It really sucks, because I know as an artist, you put a lot of time and work and a lot of energy into music.”
But, as he noted, the lack of nominations doesn’t take away from Beyoncé’s impact, in country music and beyond. “You know, awards aren’t everything,” the 29-year-old, who collaborated on two Cowboy Carter songs, continued. “As long as you’re connecting with people genuinely, making music that’s impacting people—that’s all that matters. She changed my life, and the lives of other artists as well.”

NEW YORK — Welcome to Beyoncé country. When it comes to the 2025 Grammy Award nominations, “Cowboy Carter” rules the nation. She leads the nods with 11, bringing her career total to 99 nominations. That makes her the most nominated artist in Grammy history.
“Cowboy Carter” is up for album and country album of the year, and “Texas Hold ’Em” is nominated for record, song and country song of the year. She also received nominations in a wide swath of genres, including pop, country, Americana and melodic rap performance categories.
This is her first time receiving nominations in the country and Americana categories. Previously, she and her husband Jay-Z were tied for most career nominations, at 88.
If Beyoncé wins the album of the year, she’ll become the first Black woman to do so in the 21st century. Lauryn Hill last won in 1999 for “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” joining Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston as the only Black women to take home the Grammys’ top prize.
Post Malone also received his first ever nominations in the country categories this year, having released his debut country album “F-1 Trillion” in August. That one is up for country album and “I Had Some Help,” his collaboration with Morgan Wallen, is nominated for country song and country duo/group performance. They are Wallen’s first ever Grammy nominations.
Malone is just behind Beyoncé, with seven nominations, tied with Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Charli XCX, who earned her first nominations as a solo artist.
Lamar’s ubiquitous diss track released during his feud with Drake, “Not Like Us,” is nominated for record and song of the year, rap song, music video as well as best rap performance. He has two simultaneous entries in the latter category, a career first: Future & Metro Boomin featuring Lamar, “Like That” is up for best rap performance and best rap song.
This is his third time receiving two simultaneous nominations for best rap song.
Taylor Swift and first-time nominees Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan boast of six nominations each.
Last year, women artists dominated the major categories. This year, that continues somewhat, but the main trend seems to be a variance of genre. In the album of the year category, alongside “Cowboy Carter” is André 3000’s new age, alt-jazz “New Blue Sun” and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier’s “Djesse Vol. 4.” Rising pop stars Carpenter and Roan round it out, with “Short n’ Sweet” and “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” respectively, as well as Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” and Charli XCX’s rave-ready “BRAT.”
Eilish is the only artist to have her first three albums become nominated for album of the year.
Last year, Swift won album of the year for “Midnights,” breaking the record for most wins in the category with four. This year, she becomes the first ever woman to seven career nominations in the category.
“The breadth and the variety of genres represented in the general field feels new and really exciting,” says the Recording Academy CEO and President Harvey Mason jr. He credits an active and evolving voting body for its success. “We’ve been very intentional in how we looked at and tried to rebalance our membership. So not just gender or people of color, different racial makeup, but also genre equity and trying to make sure that all different types of music in different regions and different locations are being represented in every way possible.”
Only recordings commercially released in the U.S. between Sept. 16, 2023 through Aug. 30, 2024 were eligible for nominations. The final round of Grammy voting, which determines its winners, will take place Dec. 12 through January 3.
In the best new artist category, Carpenter and Roan will go head-to-head, alongside Benson Boone, Doechii, Khruangbin, RAYE, Shaboozey and Teddy Swims.
In the song of the year category, Beyoncé is joined by Eilish with “Birds of a Feather,” Swift and Post Malone with “Fortnight,” Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”, Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With A Smile,” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Shaboozey is also a first-time nominee. His “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is the biggest song of the year, having spent more weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 than any other — it is so popular, a remix of the track is also up for remixed recording.
Elsewhere, Shaboozey is nominated in the melodic rap performance category for his feature on Beyoncé’s “SPAGHETTII.” Linda Martell, the first commercially-successful Black woman musician in country, is also featured on the song, delivering the 83-year-old artist her first Grammy nomination.
For record of the year, “Texas Hold ’Em” will compete against Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” Eilish’s “Birds of a Father,” Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”, Carpenter’s “Espresso,” Charli XCX’s “360,” and the Beatles last new song, the AI-assisted “Now and Then.”
“We’re trying to make sure we’re keeping up with how music creators and our community are using technology. And in this case, AI enhanced the record and allowed it to be eligible in the categories that it was eligible in,” Mason jr explains.
So, what’s missing? Like last year, there’s a huge dearth of Latin music — the fastest growing streaming genre in the United States — across the board, and no representation in the major categories. There are also only four entries in the best Música Mexicana album category, despite it also being one of the fastest growing genres.
And K-pop, too, seems to be absent. There are no nominations for the BTS members who’ve released solo material this year: RM’s “Right Place, Wrong Person,” J-Hope’s “Hope on the Street, Vol. 1,” and Jimin’s “Muse.” As a boy band, BTS has received five nominations across their career.
“I definitely see room for improvement across many genres and we are continuing to invite people to be a part of the academy,” Mason jr. says. “Without the right representation we don’t get the right results. When I say right, I mean reflective and representative of what’s happening in music today. So, the work continues.”
The 2025 Grammy Awards will air Feb. 2 live on CBS and Paramount+ from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
American model and rapper, Amber Rose, has called out famous singer, Beyoncé for allegedly copying her.
DAILY POST recalls that Beyoncé recently endorsed Kamala Harris for president at her rally in Houston, where she delivered a speech.
Reacting, Rose, who had earlier endorsed the Republican Party candidate, Donald Trump, at the party’s National Convention in July, claimed Beyoncé copied her speech.
She further accused her of wanting to be her.
Commenting under an Instagram post by The Shade Room about Beyoncé’s speech at Kamala Harris’ rally, Amber Rose wrote, “She wanna be me so bad. Literally took my whole speech.”
Beyoncé is yet to react to Rose’s allegations.

With Beyoncé as her warm-up act, Kamala Harris packed a Houston stadium Friday night with a late-campaign swing through a state where a win for her is unlikely, and wasn’t the point. From deep in Texas, the Vice President’s goal was for the rest of the country to hear her message: the abortion ban in Texas could become the national standard if Donald Trump is given a second term in the White House.
“Freedom is not to be given. It is not to be bestowed. It is ours by right and we are prepared to fight for it because we understand the stakes,” Harris told a crowd that brimmed with the kind of enthusiasm typically reserved for mega-events like a World Series or, well, a Beyoncé tour. “Texas, you are ground zero in the fight for reproductive freedom.”
The Harris campaign said the 30,000 people in attendance made it their largest rally to date. The night’s biggest draw, of course, was Beyonce Knowles-Carter, the unparalleled artist who hails from Houston. Though she didn’t perform, Beyonce and her former Destiny’s Child co-headliner, Kelly Rowland, introduced the Vice President. And legend Willie Nelson, billed simply as “Texas voter,” also performed a two-song set earlier in the evening. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, also made the case for a Harris presidency.
But it was Queen Bey who best understood the assignment. One of the most popular musicians on the planet, her political chops are less often used than other stars like Taylor Swift, who has also endorsed Harris. While Beyoncé has a clear history of backing Democratic candidates, her brand is one that extends beyond traditional corners, and her remarks landed firmly in that sweet zone.
“We are at the precipice of an incredible shift, the brink of history,” Beyoncé told the packed Shell Energy Stadium in her introduction of Harris. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother. A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in. A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies. A world where we’re not divided.”
Along with creating the kind of buzzy event that drew national attention, the event was also intended to boost Democrat Colin Allred, who spoke earlier at the rally and is vying to unseat Ted Cruz in a surprisingly competitive Senate race.
As Democrats face a particularly hazardous Senate map, the Harris/Beyoncé event was part of a broader effort by Democrats to boost down-ballot races as something of a last-minute insurance policy should Harris prevail in her bid for the White House. If Republicans reclaim the Senate with a net swing of two seats, they could effectively veto Harris’ agenda. (The same can be said of the House, where Republicans are trying to hold onto a narrow but unruly majority.) Put plainly, the reasoning behind a visit to GOP-friendly Texas so close to Election Day were multiple, and Harris bet big that the resonance of the state’s near-total abortion ban could trigger action both for others within the state, and for her in must-win swing states.
“Women have died because of Trump abortion bans,” Harris said. “In just four years as President, Donald Trump was able to erase half a century of hard-fought progress for women. Now he wants to go even further. … If Trump wins again, he will ban abortion nationwide.”
Trump has said he is proud of appointing three justices that helped the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade and ended a half-century of federal abortion protections. The former President has maintained he prefers states themselves set the standards on their own, a reality that has created an inconsistent environment for those seeking abortions and a vastly uneven quilt of policies and practices.
Harris clearly had in mind the audience watching in other states as she hit the case hard that this is about so much more than what happens in Texas.
“Reproductive freedom is on the ballot in this presidential election and in 10 states around the country, including Arizona, Florida, and Nevada,” she said. “With the work of everyone here, freedom will win.”
Republicans need to net just two Senate seats to have a majority to check a potential Harris era. If Trump wins, Vice President J.D. Vance would be the tie-breaking vote in a 50-50 Senate if the GOP managed to net just one seat, and that’s almost a given as Sen. Joe Manchin decided not to run again in West Virginia; Democrats all but abandoned that contest in short order.
So Harris’ alarmism about the prospect of Trump and a GOP-controlled Congress is not without grounding. Trump has already signaled his return to power would not necessarily be marred by the amateurism of his first term. His allies around Washington have drawn up a detailed agenda, one that Harris and her allies have successfully weaponized to the point that some Project 2025’s authors have already been blackballed from any access to Trump.
But abortion rights was the central focus of the evening’s message. One in three American women live in a state where abortion is not an option. In Texas, for example, health care providers face jail if they perform abortions, and there are cash incentives—bounties, really—for Texans who report those who pursue the procedure or help someone obtain one. It’s why roughly three dozen doctors in white coats took the stage ahead of Harris, and multiple Texans spoke of their own personal crises trying to secure abortions for non-viable pregnancies.

The evening was one that brought a major dose of enthusiasm for a campaign that has struggled to nudge the race out of its coin-toss status. The line stretched block after block. Some arrived before dawn to make sure they got primo seats when doors opened in the late afternoon. With a vibe more approximating a music festival than a political rally, newcomers to elections were plentiful—which is exactly what Democrats need if they’re going to have a shot at the Senate race—or maybe the longest of long shots at the state’s 40 electoral votes.
As a political matter, Harris billed the event as a rally about reproductive rights that, frankly, are lacking in Texas. But the audience was far from those inside the stadium.
The message, at least inside the concert that happened to have a political PSA sprinkled in it, seemed to have accomplished its surface-level mission. It’s why, as TIME’s Charlotte Alter recently reported, Democrats are suddenly hopeful that the election outcome could hinge on abortion rights.
“I’m not really into politics, but I wanted to come and see for myself,” says Lakeita Crawford, a 32-year-old Houston resident who is self-employed. “I feel like people want to support Kamala, but she needed to come and connect with us. I’m no fan of Donald Trump but I want to be here to hear Harris.”
Across the soccer field, 24-year-old Jasman Worthy stood at the front of the barricade at her first-ever political event. “Girl power,” she said with enthusiasm. “We have to support Kamala. She gets Houston, and we have to get her back.”
In that, the communal nature of the evening suggests that Harris may have tapped into a stream of politics that few have been able to credibly reach. Movements seldom come together on such a short timeline, but they also usually lack a built-in brand loyalty like Beyoncé. In that, her campaign is doing little to dampen the built-in fierceness that comes with that icon.

The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer recently stepped out for a surprise appearance at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in her hometown of Houston.
“I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in,” Beyoncé shared from stage. “A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided.”
The Grammy winner—who shares kids Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 6, with husband Jay-Z—continued, “Imagine our daughters growing up, seeing what’s possible with no ceilings, no limitations. Imagine our grandmothers. Imagine what they feel right now, those who have lived to see this historic day, even those who are no longer physically with us. Imagine all of their sacrifice. The sacrifices made so we can witness the strength of a woman standing in her power.”
And while Beyoncé’s appearance had fans buzzing, it wasn’t a complete surprise. After all, sources with direct knowledge of the event told NBC News earlier this week that she would be taking the stage alongside the Democratic nominee for president.
