The new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kogi State, Enemona Anyebe has vowed to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from the government house in the next governorship election in the state.
Anyebe stated this on Sunday shortly after he was sworn in as the party Chairman alongside the new executive of the Party in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
He faulted the performance of the APC in Kogi State since 2015 noting that, they have impoverished the people and made the state go backwards.
According to Anyebe “Our plan is to come back to the government and correct the wrongs that have taken place in Kogi State courtesy of the ruling All Progressive Congress since 2015. I don’t need to mention the difference between when the PDP was in government and what is happening now.
” It is clear for all of us to see that things have gone so bad. No infrastructural development, as human development is at a porous end. The middle class have been completely wiped out in this County and Kogi State. There are so many things that they are supposed to do as a government which the APC failed to do. We are planning to come back to fix these problems so that we can create an enabling environment for the people”.
While promising to bring aggrieved members back to the PDP, the Chairman argued that the internal party crisis was the major reason his party lost out in Kogi State.
According to him “We have our internal problems and we are currently resolving them. If you see the Congress we did yesterday, it was different from what it used to be. Let it be on record that PDP is no longer divided in the state because we have made efforts to unite the people. Under the new executive, we are going to groom leaders who will take over the mantle of leadership from us”.
The State Secretary of the PDP, Sunday Olufemi described the party Congress as free, fair, transparent, peaceful, credible and acceptable to all in the party.
“For anyone who was at the venue yesterday would testify that PDP has comfortably gotten it right to come back to power. With the outcome of yesterday’s Congress, despite being an opposition party, Kogites would notice that there was no division between us. Am assuring the People of Kogi State that we are coming back to power by the Special grace of God in 2028” he added.
He averred that the people of Kogi State are tired of the alleged maladministration under the ruling party. Explaining further, Olufemi said “Everybody knows what is happening presently. If an election is conducted today, it will go the way of the PDP because APC has failed the people. The PDP in Kogi State is forming a formidable committee that would look and resolve the crisis of the party which will make us take over power in Kogi State”.
