The music community is mourning a tragic loss.
Ryan Whyte Maloney—who competed on season six of The Voice in 2014—has died, the Las Vegas’ Clark County Coroner confirmed to People Jan. 28. He was 44.
The coroner said that Maloney died by suicide, per the outlet.
Less than 24 hours before his passing, the singer shared a video of him hanging out at a bar.
In the clip posted to his Instagram Story Jan. 27, Maloney—wearing a black shirt, a matching leather jacket and a necklace with a silver pendant—flexed a rock-on hand gesture while spinning around to provide a 360-view of the dimly lit establishment.
“Nine fine Irishmen for a private party tonight,” Maloney said in the video, “and we will be rocking.”
Earlier this month, the “Every Car You Chase” singer—who was a top five finalist on Blake Shelton‘s season six team on The Voice before being eliminated—reflected on his time on the reality competition series, sharing that his return for 2014 finale was a major highlight for him during a difficult time in his life.
