Minister-desgnate for Sports and recreation, Kofi Adams, has made a major revelation concerning the leadership of the Black Stars under head coach Otto Addo. According to the minister, some key players within the national team have privately expressed concerns about their confidence in the German-trained gaffer.
Kofi Adams disclosed that the Ministry has taken note of these sentiments and will engage the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in discussions on whether to retain Otto Addo as head coach or explore alternative options.
“This concern of stay or not stay [Otto Addo’s coaching the Black Stars], it’s not just coming from the non-playing body. That is of great concern to me. I have had conversations with some of our Black Stars players, and it is clear that not all of them are convinced about the direction of the team under Coach Otto Addo. Confidence in a coach is critical for team performance, and as a Ministry, we cannot overlook these concerns,” Adams stated.
The minister assured the public that any decision taken would be in the best interest of the national team and Ghanaian football as a whole.
The revelation comes at a time when Otto Addo has been under intense scrutiny following recent performances by the Black Stars. While some fans and analysts have backed his long-term project, others have questioned his tactical approach and team selections.
With Ghana preparing for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers and coupled with the fact that Otto Addo was just confirmed by the GFA the uncertainty surrounding Otto Addo’s future could have significant implications for the team’s progress.
