More than 17,000 persons have applied for jobs in the ongoing teachers’ recruitment in Abia State after the opening of the online portal on Wednesday.
The recruitment was approved by Governor Alex Otti for 2,000 teachers in Primary, Secondary and Technical Colleges in the State.
The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, who gave the application figure while addressing journalists on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti on Monday, said that more applications were coming in.
“So far, over 17,000 applications have been recieved and processed and still counting,” he said.
He noted that the recruitment was transparent and that the shortlisted candidates would undergo Computer Based Tests after which those who passed would go for oral interview.
Kanu reacted to ongoing pension crisis in the State, maintaining that the leadership of the pensioners were never decieved by the State government during the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State government and leadership of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP).
