Sudan stunned Ghana with a quick-fire double, scoring two goals in three minutes to claim a crucial 2-0 victory in their qualification campaign. Both teams entered the second half tied at 0-0 after a tightly contested first half that saw neither side able to break the deadlock.
Sudan, however, came out with renewed energy in the second half. The breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when Ahmed latched onto a loose ball in the box, slotting it past the Ghanaian goalkeeper to make it 1-0. The celebration had barely settled when, just three minutes later, Rahman found the back of the net again. His precise finish after going past Ghana’s defender, Salisu doubled Sudan’s lead, leaving Ghana reeling.
With these two goals, Sudan surged to second place in the standings, securing 7 points, while Ghana’s hopes of turning their campaign around dwindled as they remained third with just 2 points.
