But that doesn’t mean their parents were necessarily thrilled by the wedding news.
“No, they were mad,” Maddi added. “They were mad for sure.”
And Joe could relate.
“I had a lot of ass-kissing to do on Thanksgiving this year,” he noted. “But we are so close with our families and they know that we ride or die for them. They just want us to be happy, thank God.”
As for why the Bravo stars finally decided to become more than just friends, it all came down to timing.
“I always kind of knew in my heart that we would be together and I just feel like I had a little bit of growing up to do in a lot of ways,” Joe explained. “She puts it like, ‘You had some stuff to get out of your system before I thought you were ready.’ I wanted to be good enough of a guy for her and, being with her, I feel like I became a better person already.”
See Joe and Maddi’s love story—and surprise wedding—play out when Southern Hospitality returns tonight, Jan. 2, at 9 p.m. on Bravo. And keep reading to learn more about season three.
