Simba SC defeated CS Constantine 2-0 in Dar es Salaam on Sunday to take the lead in the TotalEneergies CAF Confederation Cup Group A.
The Tanzanian team ended one point ahead of their Algerian rivals at the group summit thanks to their impressive second-half performance, which was highlighted by goals from Kibu Denis and Leonel Ateba.
With eleven minutes left, Ateba’s clinical goal from a counterattack sealed the victory after a tense first hour that saw Denis break the deadlock with a strong effort from inside the box.
With Simba earning 13 points from their group campaign and Constantine finishing in second place with 12 points, both teams go to the quarterfinals.
