Senegal, the defending CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations champions, won their first game of the competition, defeating Malawi 6-1 in Hurghada.
The injured Lions of Teranga made a clear statement of purpose after a dismal start to the campaign in which they lost 5-2 to Mauritania, who were playing their first game.
They were clinical in front of goal. The victory greatly increases the aspirations of the reigning champions to retain their crown, but they still have work to do in their last Group B game.
Tuesday’s showdown between Senegal and Mozambique in Group B looks to be a fiercely contested affair between the two tournament favourites.
