After Monday’s draw, Real Madrid will play their local rivals, Leganes, while Barcelona will travel to Valencia for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals.
Real Sociedad will play Osasuna, a Basque team, while Atletico Madrid will face Getafe in another rivalry in the Spanish capital.
The games will take place from February 4–6.
The draw raised the prospect of a cup final Clasico between long-time rivals Real and Barcelona, which hasn’t occurred in more than ten years.
Real and Barcelona have faced off in the Copa del Rey final eighteen times, with Real leading the rivalry with eleven victories against seven from the Catalans, including their most recent meeting, a 2-1 victory at Valencia in 2014.
But in each of their meetings this season, Barcelona has dominated Real, winning 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia last week and 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga in October.
Real Madrid leads the La Liga standings with 46 points, two points clear of second-place Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona is seven points behind in third place.
