Rwanda and Benin will square off again on Tuesday at the Amahoro National Stadium in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
After losing the first of their two matches in October last weekend, the Wasps will be hoping to defeat the visitors and record their first victory of the year.
In their match at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Friday, Benin defeated Rwanda 3-0, dealing a severe blow to Rwanda’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Before that, Rwanda began the campaign with two consecutive draws, including a remarkable goalless draw on September 10 in Kigali against a star-studded Nigerian team.
Under head coach Gernot Rohr, who has been charged with guiding the country to its first AFCON since 2019, where they made it to the quarterfinals, Friday’s victory was another positive step for Benin.
Benin will be counting on themselves to continue where they left off over the weekend and to go into Tuesday’s match against Rwanda unblemished in their previous six encounters, having won four and drawn two of those since a 1-0 loss in October 2011.
