Jorge Sampaoli’s time at Stade Rennais has come to an abrupt end. Appointed just two months ago, the Argentine coach has failed to turn things around, leaving the club in a precarious position with an average of only 0.8 points per game.
Rennes, currently in the play-off zone, has decided to move on from Sampaoli as results have not met expectations.
The decision to part ways was made swiftly, with the official announcement expected within hours. Signs of the impending departure were evident this morning, as training was unexpectedly postponed, and members of Sampaoli’s staff arrived at the Piverdière training ground to empty their lockers. With his contract initially running until June 2026, Rennes will now be searching for a new solution to salvage their season.
