The Taraba State Police Command has commenced enforcing compliance with mandatory third party motor insurance.
In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, the command spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, said the move was necessitated by the directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi P. Opara, emphasized that the enforcement drive would ensure all vehicle owners comply with the legal requirement to have valid third-party insurance.
The command also warned motorists to secure the necessary insurance to avoid sanctions.
The police commissioner urged vehicle owners to act promptly, stating that non-compliance would attract strict penalties.
“Residents of Taraba State are advised to ensure their vehicles meet the insurance requirements as enforcement operations continue across the state,” the statement read.
The statement equally reaffirmed the command’s commitment to upholding traffic regulations for public safety across the nooks and crannies of the state.
