Cole Palmer scored two goals in the second half to help Chelsea overcome a two-goal deficit and win 4-3 at Tottenham, putting more pressure on home manager Ange Postecoglou.
After another thrilling match between the London rivals, it could have been quite different, but Enzo Maresca’s young team’s most recent impressive performance reduced the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool to four points.
After Thursday’s 1-0 loss at Bournemouth, Postecoglou got into a violent argument with a few Spurs supporters, but he also witnessed his team get off to the perfect start, with Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski scoring goals within 11 minutes.
Marc Cucurella of Chelsea made a mistake in the build-up to both goals, but Jadon Sancho quickly cut the lead before Moises Caicedo, a visiting midfielder, avoided a red card for a shin-high tackle on Pape Sarr in the 32nd minute.
It would turn out to be a crucial moment as Caicedo was taken down by Yves Bissouma early in the second half, allowing Palmer to equalise from the penalty spot.
The Blues talisman also contributed to his team’s third goal when Enzo Fernandez struck home his cross.
Despite a consolation goal for Spurs captain Son Heung-min in stoppage time, Palmer appropriately scored the game-winning Panenka from the penalty spot in the 84th minute to give Chelsea another unforgettable victory over their rivals.
