Galatasaray defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday with Victor Osimhen scoring a brace as he maintained his stellar scoring run for the Turkish powerhouse.
Osimhen’s goal in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Besiktas marks the second time he has done it in consecutive games.
In his previous five games, the 25-year-old has also scored six goals.
After giving Galatasaray a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute, Osimhen finished his brace in the 39th minute.
He had the opportunity to add to the two goals in the second half, but Fraser Forster’s outstretched leg in goal for Spurs stopped him from scoring when his header went narrowly over the bar from close range.
Dominic Solanke, a Nigerian striker who was born in England, gave Spurs a goal to make it a nail-biting finish, but Galatasaray held on to win the three points.
Following William Lankshear’s dismissal, Spurs had to play the majority of the second half with ten men.
Galatasaray now leads the Europa League with 10 points after winning three of their last four games (with one draw).
Spurs now sit in fifth place with nine points after their first loss of the season.
