The former Governor of Abia State and the Senator representing Abia North Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has introduced the management of a Chinese Power company to Governor Alex Otti, for collaboration on electric power generation.
China Power, a Fortune 500 Chinese Government-owned company came with Senator Kalu to explore opportunities for possible collaboration with the State Government on power as a critical infrastructure for economic development, especially as Abia State seeks to leverage the Power Act to establish its power generation and distribution company.
Senator Kalu in his remarks, thanked Governor Otti for receiving him on very short notice and always keeping his doors open for him. He introduced the team from China Power to the Governor and his team for possible collaboration in the development of Abia’s power sector and other areas of interest.
New Telegraph reports that China Power built the $1.5 billion Shiroro Dam for the Federal Government.
The team from China Power led by the Vice President of China Power/Sinohydro West/Central Africa, Tino Dong, indicated an interest in collaborating with the Abia State Government in the development of the Power Sector, Construction, and survey/extraction of solid minerals and gas.
Governor Otti thanked Senator Kalu for his encouraging visits irrespective of different political party affiliations. He reiterated his stance that after campaigns, elections, and litigation are over, governance takes centre stage, hence the need for stakeholders to close ranks to ensure that dividends of democracy get to the people.
He emphasized that the welfare of the people remained the top priority of his administration.
