Head coach of the Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has given some thought to his team’s triumph over New Zealand.
The Young Football Ferns were easily defeated 4-1 by the West Africans to kick off their 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign.
After two minutes, Shakirat Moshood put Nigeria ahead, and eleven minutes later, Taiwo Adegoke increased the lead.
In the 28th minute, Fareedat Abdulwahab made it 3-0 in the first half with a fantastic lob that took the custodian off surprise.
The fourth goal was scored by Taiwo Afolabi ten minutes into the second half.
Hannah Saxon, though, gave New Zealand a goal back at the hour.
“It’s a good first game for us.
” We are taking them as they come, so a good game for us, scoring four goals and only conceding one, so not bad for our first game,” Olowookere was quoted by FIFA.com.
The Flamingos will take on Ecuador in their next game on Saturday.
