Daniel Ogunmodede, assistant coach of the Super Eagles, has stated that his squad is prepared for their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying match against the Ghanaian Black Galaxies.
Nigeria was prevented from making it to the final competition, which was hosted by Algeria, by the Black Galaxies.
Additionally, the two nations are competing for a spot in the upcoming tournament, which Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host.
“We are not thinking about the past, what is important now is the present and also looking at the future.
” We all know what is at stake including the players.
“We are giants of Africa, we know what it means to us to play at the CHAN,” he told the Super Eagles media.
“Ghana will have the confidence they knocked us out twice in the past. I think things will be different this time around.”
Ogunmodede also disclosed how the technical team determined who was invited to participate the game.
“Everybody deserve a chance here, we are all privileged to be here.
“In my opinion, every time you have a first X1, there will always be a player complaining, same thing with with this scenario,” he added.
“We have to call 30 players among the large numbers in the league, they are all deserved to be here.”
In a friendly match, the home-based Super Eagles defeated Emmydinho Academy 5-1.
Sikiru Alimi, a forward for the Remo Stars, scored a hat-trick, and Vincent Temitope and Samuel Ayanrinde also scored.
