In a bid to eradicate child morbidity, the Ogun State Government has launched a collaborative effort with relevant stakeholders to ensure the completion of routine immunisation.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Elijah Ogunsola, emphasised the need for mobilisation and sensitisation across the state.
He noted that the initiative was aimed at achieving zero-dose immunisation among children through awareness and mobilisation support for the eradication of vaccination gap in the state.
Ogunsola explained that many mothers underestimate the importance of immunisation, highlighting the need for community engagement, adding that the sensitisation programme, which commenced last year, had entered its second phase towards strengthening community health and primary healthcare systems statewide.
“The stakeholders’ meeting marks a crucial step towards achieving the state’s goal of reducing morbidity among children. With the collective commitment of stakeholders, Ogun State is poised to make significant progress in its fight against child morbidity,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, representative of Family Health Initiatives, Civil Society Organisation, Oluwakemi Balogun, commended the present administration’s commitment in creating a safer and healthier environment, pledging to diligently carry out the assignment of reducing child morbidity and mortality.
