Seven games was played on Sunday in Matchday 15 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL as Ikorodu City continued their Unbeaten Streak.
A total of 21 goals was scored with just one game ending in a draw as Matchday 15 will be wrapped up on Tuesday with the Oriental derby between Enyimba FC and Enugu Rangers at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
At the Mobolaji Johnson arena, after defeating Akwa United 4-1, Ikorodu City advanced to third place in the NPFL standings.
The host took the lead after three minutes,
thanks to Tosin Oyedokun.
Nine minutes after the interval, Chijioke Alakwe equalised as the visitors rallied.
The other goals for Nurudeen Aweroro’s team came from Emmanuel Solomon, Ayomide Olatunji, and Ayomide Cole.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers United defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 .
The game ended with both teams separated by a goal from Aniekeme Okon in the 31st minute. After the victory, Rivers United took back the top spot in the log.
Following a 2-1 loss against the Niger Tornadoes in Minna, Remo Stars gave up their top status.
In the first half, John Godstime and Papa Daniel gave the Tornadoes two goals. Sunshine Stars lost to Katsina United 1-0 at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, with Ahmed Abdultaofik scoring the game-winning goal.
Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi Warriors fought to a scoreless draw at Maiduguri. Additionally, Heartland won 3-2 over Nasarawa United at Owerri.
Heartland FC continued their resurgence under Emmanuel Amuneke with a 3-2 win over Nasarawa United.
Promise Anyanwu scored the opener for Heartland FC in the 15th minute following trademark long throw in from Christian Nkwo.
Nasarawa United levelled through Anas Yusuf in the 46th minute for his 10th goal of the season.
Heartland saw themselves trailing in the second half before Surajudeen Lawal equalized for the Naze Millionaires in the 88th minute to make it 2-2.
Another Nkwo throw saw Christian Molokwu side footed the ball into the net in added time to send Heartland supporter into ecstatic mood as the game ended 3-2.
Saturday games saw Bendel Insurance returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over visiting Plateau United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Also, Lobi Stars got a 1-0 victory at home against Kwara United.
