Tottenham Hotspur have officially secured the signing of Austrian defender Kevin Danso from RC Lens in a €25 million package deal. The highly-rated center-back has signed a contract with Spurs until June 2030, solidifying Ange Postecoglou’s defensive options for the long term.
Danso was on the verge of joining Wolverhampton Wanderers before Spurs swooped in at the last moment to hijack the deal. Wolves had been in advanced negotiations, but Tottenham’s swift intervention, coupled with a more attractive project and European ambitions, convinced the player to make the switch to North London instead.
The 25-year-old, known for his physical presence, composure on the ball, and aerial dominance, had been a key figure at Lens since joining in 2021. His performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League had attracted significant interest across Europe, with Spurs ultimately winning the race.
Tottenham fans will be eager to see how Danso integrates into Postecoglou’s high-intensity system as the club continues its rebuild under the Australian manager. His arrival adds depth and competition to a backline that has shown improvement but still needs reinforcements to challenge for a top-four finish.
Spurs’ summer business remains active, with more potential signings expected before the transfer window closes.
