Zambian national team coach, Wedson Nyirenda, has expressed unwavering confidence in the Chipolopolo boys ahead of their campaign in the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Nyirenda believes the team has the discipline, commitment, and capability to clinch their first-ever CHAN title. Speaking passionately about his squad, Nyirenda highlighted the players’ exceptional dedication during preparations.
“The boys are doing so well. The discipline is so high, and everyone is committed to this cause,” he stated.
According to the coach, these qualities are strong indicators of success and give him confidence that history could be made. Zambia has participated in CHAN tournaments before but has yet to lift the coveted trophy. Nyirenda, however, feels this year could be different. “They say there’s always a first time, and I feel we can bring it home,” he remarked.
To boost the team’s chances, Nyirenda has urged the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive to secure at least two international friendly matches for the Chipolopolo boys. He believes this will serve as a crucial step toward fine-tuning the team’s tactics and boosting morale ahead of the tournament.
“The Executive, I know you’re going to secure one or two friendlies outside, and I think that will work miracles for us,” Nyirenda said.
The Chipolopolo faithful are rallying behind Nyirenda’s optimism, hoping this will be the year their team makes history by bringing the CHAN trophy to Zambia for the first time. With determination and preparation as their driving forces, the Chipolopolo boys are ready to rewrite the narrative on the continental stage.
