Northeast Governors meet In Bauchi, discuss issues of interest

The 10th meeting of the North East Governors Forum is underway in Bauchi.

The Governors converged on the Bauchi Government House to discuss some urgent national issues.

The meeting is to articulate collective interests and restate commitment to a united region capable of guaranteeing the safety and protection of lives and property of the people, while also ensuring necessary measures are put in place to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardships.

The Governors are also expected to review the state of the nation as it affects the region.

Chairman of the forum and Borno State Governor, Prof. Banagana Umara Zulum stressed the need for the forum to address the rising costs of food by putting in economic solutions and not palliatives, adding that it is not a solution.

He noted that the region is rich and the only way out is to harness the abundant resources that exists through partnership with the private sector.

Earlier, the host Governor, Senator Bala Muhammad expressed satisfaction with the results the meeting is yielding.

He said the frequency demonstrates the unity that is giving direction to the region.
All six Governors of the region are in attendance.
