The Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, has described as untrue the popular belief that Senators own official cars.
The lawmaker discussed the issue when he appeared on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.
DAILY POST reports that federal lawmakers have been repeatedly accused of being insensitive to the plight of the people.
There is the popular claim that the National Assembly members live in affluence despite the state of the economy.
However, Kalu said the lawmakers have no official vehicles, insisting that only committees receive vehicles.
“I am in the Senate and a lot of things are said about the Senators and I sit there quietly and watch, and most of these things are not true.
“All I know is that committees get vehicles, no lawmaker is given any vehicle,” the Senator said.
