The National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former chairman of the party in Abia State, Donatus Nwankpa, has insisted that there are no factions in the state chapter.
Nwankpa admonished the current state party chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu, not to align with any faction but rather reach out to all party stakeholders in the state.
He spoke at a meeting of local government and ward executive committee members in Abia State, held at the residence of former state governor and the representative of Abia North in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence in the capacity of the state chairman to deliver APC in future elections in the state.
He said: “There are no more factions in Abia APC. I advise the chairman to reach out to all party leaders, and you have the courage and capacity to do so.
“One tree cannot make a forest. When other leaders invite you, make sure you attend and don’t discriminate.
“If APC does not produce the governor in 2027, we have failed. In my tenure as state party chairman, I produced APC senators, House of Representatives members and House of Assembly members, now the current chairman is supposed to produce the next APC governor of this state.
“Leadership is not imposed but earned. I have not come to praise you but don’t allow anyone to spoil your administration. Carry this message of unity to all the 17 local government areas of Abia State.”
