Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2019, Naby Keita’s career has taken a challenging turn since leaving the Premier League.
After joining Werder Bremen in 2023, the 29-year-old Guinean midfielder found himself excluded from the professional squad following a reported refusal to participate in a match.
Keita, who remains under contract with Werder Bremen until 2026, has been seeking a fresh start since the summer. On Tuesday, he secured a new opportunity, as Ferencváros announced his loan from January to December 2025. The Hungarian club confirmed the deal, stating: “The Champions League winner with Liverpool continues his career within our men’s football team. The excellent midfielder arrives on loan for one year with the possibility of a permanent transfer to Üllő.”
This move offers Keita the chance to revive his form and contribute to a Ferencváros side keen to bolster its midfield with the Guinean’s experience and skill. The loan also includes an option for a permanent transfer, marking a potential long-term commitment if the partnership proves successful.
