The nine venues that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches have been announced by Morocco, the tournament’s host country.
Six stadiums from six cities were initially chosen: Fez, Marrakech, Casablanca, Tangier, Rabat, and Agadir.
However, Moroccan media claimed that the tournament has now reached a historic milestone with nine venues that have been added.
Rabat, the capital, now has three new stadiums.
These include the 12,000-seat Stade Moulay Hassan, the 15,000-seat Stade al Barid, and the 15,000-seat Stade du Fath Union Sport.
The Grand Stade de Tangier, Grand Stade d’Agadir, Grand Stade de Marrakech, Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca, the Fez Sports Complex, and the state-of-the-art Moulay Abdellah Complex—the biggest stadium in Rabat—are all enhanced by these additional additions.
A major milestone will be reached at AFCON 2025 as a result of this infrastructure expansion: for the first time in the tournament’s history, two straight games will not be played on the same field on the same day.
