Wilfred Ndidi gave Nigeria’s Flying Eagles N5 million after they defeated Cote d’Ivoire in the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
In their final group match, Aliyu Zubairu’s team overcame the Ivorians 2-1 on Thursday at the Stade Municipal in Lome.
They defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 in their opening match, but their victory over Cote d’Ivoire guaranteed them a spot in the competition’s semifinals.
According to Ndidi, the money was distributed by Flying Eagles media officer Sharif Abdallah following the team’s triumph over Cote d’Ivoire.
Jibrin Barau, Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, gave the Flying Eagles N2 million on Friday as well.
Nigeria’s semi-final matchup with the Niger Republic is scheduled for this Saturday. At 4 p.m., the match will start.
In their other last-four matchup, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire will square off.
