Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Niger State Chapter, Most Rev Bulus Dauwa Yohanna has commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for approving N80,000 as minimum wage for workers in the State.
Bulus, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese in a statement, tasked workers in the state to take advantage of the Governor’s Civil Servants Farming program to become productive.
Recall Governor Bago after an extensive meeting with Organized Labour on Friday approved N80,000 as minimum wage for both state and local government workers with effect from November 2024,
The statement signed by his Media Aide, Daniel Atori thanked the Governor for ensuring that Niger State is among the top-ranking states to implement the minimum wage in the country.
He stated, “On behalf of the entire Christendom in the state, I thank our dear Farmer Governor for choosing N80,000 out of the N70,000, N75,000 and N80,000 options presented by the state Organized Labour”.
Bishop Yahanna further urged the Organized Labour led by the state chairman, Idris Lafene to impress on the workforce to double their efforts in ensuring the state’s revenue improves.
