Brentford defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 on Sunday, snapping the hosts’ five-game Premier League winning streak with goals from Bryan Mbeumo’s retaken penalty and Kevin Schade’s headed goal.
Mbeumo’s initial shot struck the post, but the VAR gave a retake after observing Palace players encroaching.
This time, the Cameroonian attacker made no mistakes as he put Brentford ahead in the 66th minute by sending Dean Henderson the wrong way.
In the 80th minute, Schade extended the advantage for 11th-place Brentford by jumping to meet Mikkel Damsgaard’s lofted ball in the box.
He collided with Palace defender Chris Richards but managed to reach the net.
Just two minutes into his Premier League debut, teenager Romain Esse, who moved from Millwall to Palace earlier this month, scored in the 85th minute.
However, despite a late surge, Palace, who were in 12th place, failed to equalise.
