Marcus Rashford is on the verge of completing a loan move to Aston Villa, with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season for £40 million.
The 27-year-old Manchester United forward, who had previously vowed never to play for another Premier League club, is expected to undergo a medical today after agreeing to the move.
Under the terms of the deal, Rashford will continue to receive his full £325,000-a-week wages, with United covering £81,000 per week.
Villa’s interest in the England international emerged last November, but the deal accelerated after new United boss Ruben Amorim reportedly informed Rashford that he was not part of his plans.
A source told SunSport: “Marcus always said he would never play for another club in England because he is a United fan. He wanted a move to a big European club, but the interest he expected didn’t materialize.”
Villa manager Unai Emery had hinted at incoming signings after selling Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr for £70 million.
With Champions League football on offer, the Midlands club managed to convince Rashford to make the switch.
