Continuing with their hunt for the Betway Premiership title defence, Mamelodi Sundowns will visit the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday, to do battle seventh-placed Polokwane City.
Masandawana are on an excellent four game winning streak in the league as coach Manqoba Mngqithi continues to guide his side to impressive performances to begin the league season.
They will look to pick up another victory in Limpopo to go back to the summit of the table. The last time the two sides met was early in the season, in a titanic tussle which in the end, was won by the Brazilians.
They now meet for the second time this season, the only difference being that it’s a different competition, but still the same tricky Polokwane-based side.
When previewing their second away match in the league, coach Manqoba admitted that his side is weary of the danger Rise and Shine can pose but remains confident of the work they put to ensure that desired results are achieved.
“Polokwane City is a very complicated team, with a lot of man-to-man marking but I think with the time we had to prepare for this match, we have figured out what we need to do on the day. I do believe that we have a very strong team to play against them. We are hoping to come back with the three points,” he said.
“It’s not going to be easy, especially because they are team that works very hard off the ball. They have very influential players, making them a side we should be weary of and what they may bring into the game. we will however, cross that bridge when we get there.
“One is optimistic that with the group we have, we can aways compete at any given stage with any team in the league,” he continued.
