Manchester United stand in solidarity with Noussair Mazraoui. According to The Ahtletic, the Red Devils have decided not to wear an Adidas jacket in support of the LGBTQ+ community ahead of Sunday’s 4-0 Premier League win over Everton. The reason? The 27-year-old right-back had refused to join the initiative.
For the past two seasons, Premier League teams have been asked to support the LGBTQ+ community and the “Rainbow Laces” campaign. United players were required to wear a Pride-themed jersey to warm up before matches, as well as a jacket to take to the pitch.
This year, the Old Trafford players were only required to wear a jacket to enter the pitch before kick-off. However, the Morocco international has made it clear to his teammates that he is not prepared to wear the kit, citing his Muslim faith as the reason for his decision.
The team then decided that no player would wear the tracksuit so that Mazraoui would not be the only one to publicly refuse to wear it. The decision was made just hours before the Mancunians’ victory over the Toffees.
