A Nigerian man has sparked mixed reactions after sharing a video of the emotional moment he surprised his wife with a newly built house.
The young man known on TikTok as @availableufuoma day of joy, however, drew criticism from some social media users over his choice of words during the reveal.
In the viral video, the man took his wife to the location of the house he had kept secret during its construction. Upon revealing that the house was “his,” his wife reacted in disbelief, screaming and appearing overwhelmed.
While many viewers praised the man for his thoughtfulness and hard work, others took issue with his phrasing, arguing that the house should have been described as “ours” rather than “his.”
Supporters of the man defended him, suggesting that his use of “my” was likely unintentional or part of the surprise.
