Senegal, who need just one more victory to guarantee their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, takes on Malawi on Tuesday at the Bingu National Stadium.
While all is going on, Malawi needs to win to maintain their already remote hopes of qualifying for Africa’s premier football tournament.
Senegal, who had been lacking goals lately, demonstrated their return to form at the top of the pitch on Friday, defeating Malawi 4-0 at Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade.
The Lions of Teranga have won their past seven games in a row, with five triumphs and two draws.
They are enjoying their first winning streak in competitive games since January.
Following their COSAFA Cup elimination by Lesotho in July 2023, Malawi went on a downhill spiral that culminated in their humiliating loss to Senegal.
The Flames are now bottom of Group L, having failed to score in each of their three AFCON qualification matches.
They are currently below their next opponents by seven points going into Tuesday’s game in Lilongwe.
