The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has said the private sector is better placed to create wealth, saying it remains committed to the transformation and diversification of the Nigerian economy.
The President of LCCI, Mr. Gabriel Idahosa, said this at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) Luncheon in Lagos recently.
Idahosa stated: “As a chamber, we remain committed to the transformation and diversification of the Nigerian economy. We believe the private sector is better placed to create wealth, while the government will generate revenue.
“We need the private sector to generate employment to mitigate the problem of unemployment, poverty, and insecurity in the country. “We need a strong private sector to make our country a respected member of the commit of nations.
According to him, “this AGM is an occasion to appreciate all members of our chamber, our officers, council members, our friends and partners, and the generality of the chamber membership.
This luncheon offers a platform for networking with our allies in the public and private sectors, the diplomatic community, and development partners.
“To the glory of God, we have continued to maintain our leadership position in the organized private sector as the leading voice of public policy advocacy.
We have leveraged strategic partnerships with similar private sector bodies, relevant government institutions to promote and protect the interests of the Nigerian Business community.”
