Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has insisted that his total focus is on the German club, amid links to Real Madrid.
Alonso, however, admitted that his bond with the La Liga giants is “very strong.”
On Monday, there were speculations that Carlo Ancelotti will leave his role as Madrid boss in the summer.
The reports stated that Ancelotti was “very happy” at the Bernabeu, but was keen for a fresh challenge away from Spain.
Since then, Alonso, who has played for Los Blancos in the past, has been linked with a return to the club.
When asked by reporters, he said: “Already questions on Real Madrid?! [laughs] Time goes by, but the affection remains.
“Our bond is very strong, that is clear, but my total focus is on Bayer Leverkusen now; that’s in my mind.”
Alonso solidified his credentials as a top coach in Europe after he led Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title last season without losing a single game.
They also played in the Europa League final, where they were thrashed 3-0 by Atalanta.
