Aribemchukwu, the daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has been killed in her residence at highbrow Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, with reports indicating that her body was discovered outside the gate of her home. The deceased, affectionately known as Chuchu, was allegedly killed the previous night.
A family source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, revealed chilling details about the discovery. “It would appear that new household staff might have been responsible and tried to stage as if she was outside when it happened. There were signs of an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and in the compound. This was indeed their handiwork, and we observed that they were newly employed less than a month, and she was alone in the house with them. We all need to be super careful, especially with new hires,” the source added.
Confirming the murder, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that three suspects, all domestic staff, have been arrested. “Our men have arrested three people in connection to the murder of the daughter of Justice Ajumogobia at her residence in Parkview Estate. One of them is a driver, and the other two are maids. We are investigating and will further inform the public on our outcome,” the PPRO stated.
Until her death, Aribemchukwu was a practising medical doctor and had recently got married.
