Though Jurgen Klopp has moved on from Liverpool, his deep connection to the club remains intact. In an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp spoke fondly about his former team’s current success.
“I’m so happy they’re doing well,” he said. “I stay in touch with Arne [Slot] and some players. 0.1% of them might think I should still be there because they’re playing so well. They’re probably the most balanced team in the world right now.” Despite no longer being at the helm, Klopp continues to follow the Reds closely, watching their matches whenever possible.
When asked about the futures of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah—key players whose contracts expire in June—Klopp was candid. “I’m glad I don’t have to handle these questions right now,” he joked. “From my point of view, I hope all three extend, but they haven’t told me anything.” On Salah specifically, he shared heartfelt praise: “I hope he stays. He’s the best striker Liverpool has had in modern times, a fantastic player and a fantastic human being—the best your country could have. I hope he stays at Liverpool.”
Klopp’s message is clear: the Pharaoh remains integral to Liverpool’s legacy and future.
